You asked for it...

Here are the first two pages of UNBOUND. These are scans of a photocopy, so they look even worse. (If that's possible.) Yes, that's my crappy handwriting as this was well before the days of cheap scanners and printers. An old girlfriend helped with the inks on page one. Just what she did I can't remember, but I'm sure it was minimal enough that I thought I should give her credit back in the day. I'll post more in the coming days. Shortly thereafter I hope to post new versions of them as to redeem myself.

I almost want to give these pages the MST3K treatment...

aw, christian!
i love ALL of this! man, that's so cool! i really love seeing the early stuff that artists do--you can see so much of the learning process, the lessons we learn about storytelling (when we think we already know it all...) this stuff is just beautiful--wonderful to see! thanks so much for diggin' it out and sharing!
sweet!

I dig it...reminds me of that section of the comic shop titled "Independant Comics"...those guys were the coolest in my book...but I was in my Damn tha Man! phase...but still I would think back and remember all the titles I picked up from that section...it gave you gumption...
Again, U da man!

Thanks for the kind words, fellas.

The energy and excitement was there, just not that vital professional touch. And, yeah, we thought we knew it all and we were going to take these books to the Chicago Comicon and land jobs..blah, blah, blah. Ah, youthful dreams and arrogance. Still it was one of the most productive times of my life and got me where I am today artistically. (Though I still got a ways to go.)

Don't worry the pages get worse. Well, page three isn't so bad since one of the other artists, Jim, inked it for me and he was the best of the three of us. Ninos did page four and the rest of the mess is all my fault. I'll post the rest of the pages tonight or tomorrow. Then I'll start on redrawing the story. (Though Angie wants me to finish my Kubert stuff before I go off on another tangent. I'm easily distracted.) After that brace yourselves for 'The Requital.'

Love this guy's face- so nasty! These drawings were so intricate- you must've spent hours on them.

Loved hanging out with you guys last weekend. Did MM get her place of honor above the crib yet? Lilah is a little peach.

Looking forward to seeing the Kubert stuff too. Keep on truckin' my friend.

Yup, Squeeze, MM hangs above Lilah's changing table and she never fails to stare at her every time she gets a new diaper.
