Added bonus from the vaults

You heard me talk about the strip I continued Unbound in...Well, turns out I still have two of them, though the rubber cement for the dialog gave way on the last one. One thing I remember about Strip 3 was that it was late. Real late. The editor called me up that night and said I need it first thing in the morning. This was at 10 o'clock or so that night. So I cheated. I drew one image and broke it into four panels. I'm sure I didn't create that particular cheat, but I sure as poop reveled in it that night.

Talk about a stylistic change, eh? (Also note the illustrious copyright symbol.) It always stung me that I was just hitting my stride with this strip. I just felt the characters and their definition only to be cut down by the section's demise and my own graduation. While I didn't see this being a comic story anymore I definitely saw a strip as its perfect medium. Times have changed now and revisiting this old tale has certainly rekindled a spark to once again bring the story to life. I may not be Penny Arcade or PvP, but I just may start another blog dedicated to Unbound. Yeas or Nays will be counted.

pfft! Like you have to ask...yay on me behalf.

I like the cheat, and I can honestly say I have never heard of it before, but will keep it on a mental note now.

Now, tell us yer plans...

Well, if no one else knows the "cheat then I just might have to claim it as my own...

Busy arse day at work otherwise I might've gotten back here sooner. Basically I'm thinking of starting the story from the beginning in a strip format. Though with a blog format I'm leaning towards a vertical down format as the side to side will lose some of its "umph" if you will.

I honestly have no idea where the story is going and that's not a bad thing. The best part about writing is letting your characters tell you where they want to go and I think this story has been in my head enough that the characters have all Mapquested their paths.

Give me a week or so to try some strips and make sure I'm hearing their voices correctly and then I'll start drawing and posting.

And, yeah, Heywood, things were a bit busy back then. Hopefully I've learned a few things in the past eleven years. (Damn I feel old.)

That would be kewl...a vertical comic strip...think yer on to something there...

I heard somewhere if you do not answer the voices, you're ok...

My characters always tell me they want to be president. "Eff you, characters", I say. Then they tell me where they'd like ME to go.

Count me as a "Yea." That sounds like a great idea. You should start it off with someone yelling "Grenaaaaade!!!" That's always good.

Matt, if your characters want to be prez, I say let them eat cake, cuz this last cake-eater has fudged up enough batter...yeah, a political shot, and a shot at dessert (damn it all!)...my bad!

Matt is right...everytime I hear someone yell, "Grenaaaaade!!!" I stop and pay strict attention...reminds me, anyone play Kane&Lynch:Dead Men?
You like Hitman, you'll like this!
Later...

Haven't played Kane & Lynch. Looked at it, but didn't strike me enough to buy it. Been playing Conan at the moment and I'm at the last boss, who is complete boolsheet. Didn't help that my 360 locked up during the 4th stage of the fight. Damn near threw the controller out the window.

Matt, you know you have to finish that strip with Grenade, Jr. Or at least post what you've completed again.

hey, christian!

sorry it took me so long to post--busy like crazy on the first issue of the haps and don't let craig catch me here...!

love the strip-versions!
i had always been afraid of strips, feeling that i would try to tell too much story in them and then confuse the hell outta everybody. looks like you really had the eye and the rhythm for it, 'cause these are really nice; clean and easy to follow!

as for starting it up again, well, count me a big YEA! for you doing SOMETHING! i've always thought of revisiting old ideas, concepts, and characters that i'd created, but something inside me always talks me out of it, telling me that "you've gotta look forward, do new things, create, create, create! you are a creative person and you always will be--believe in yourself! have faith in yourself!"
at least, that's what it tells me...
i've also been known to accidentally drink plant food.

love the stuff though--let's see more!
