Happy Heart Day
Decided to steal a page from Heywood's book and post some old art as I haven't done anything creative in a couple days (save draw Angie a Valentine's card, but that's kinda personal to post). This is a pin-up I did of an old comic (Unbound) of mine for the back of a new comic (Requital) of mine. Two other friends and I put together three anthology-type comics in college. I switched stories with the second issue for some unknown reason, but I did keep Unbound going as a strip in the school paper. (I think it ran in four editions before we graduated.) It was a fantasy story that dealt with an evil sorceress and her minions, who turned the wrong peasant into a killing machine. Our protagonist regained his past memories on a assassination mission and then decided to take the fight back to the sorceress. (I'll look up her name later, but I think it's something lame like Ritual.) Anyway, here he is in all his nasty glory. Inked with a 102 crowquill and then splattered with a toothbrush. I don't think I could draw like this again if I tried, but you never know, I might.

Goddamn dude! That's a sweet pic! I like the Sam Keith look to it alot. I know how you feel about re-trying techniques though. There's stuff I used to experiment with as well, that I doubt I could re-create again. Kudos!
Sounds like a great story and awesome picture.
Thanks, Mike and Rene.
I wish I still had the original. Luckily, I still have a couple copies of the third issue we put out. I'm tempted to scan the pages from the first issue, but embarrassment is holding me back. (I'm sure after a few Guinness they'll be posted though.) Heck, I may even redraw the story. I've been dragging my heels on the new stuff, so maybe I'll just revisit the old and see where it takes me.
I'll also see if I can find any of the old newspaper strips. I know I have at least one laying around somewhere.
Wow. I think you showed this to me before and I was blown away then. I was going to say the same thing about Sam Keith.
Possibly, Matt, but you might be thinking of that Zombie/Cowboy one from Aug '06 "Happy Trails" post that is very similar in style. I don't think I subjected you to any of my old comics. I'm not that cruel, am I?
Thanks for the kind words, too, by the way.
I think you should scan the other stuff, I'd love to see it, guarantee it's better than my stuff haha! I wish I had actual 'pages' of stuff, but any of that seems to be missing.
You shouldn't be embarrassed by talent. That is awesome.. share away. I want to see.
there ya have it....i think you need to show us now haha
