"In brightest day...or year"

Figured we're already into the new year and I'm behind on my posts. (Hopefully everyone had a safe and enjoyable New Year Eve's, too.) Above is the wonderful ring Angie had made for me for Christmas. I haven't taken it off since, which accounts for all the scratches to it so far. I'll have to invest in polisher of some kind to keep it looking shiny and new. Needless to say I've also been saying the Green Lantern oath at strange hours of the day (and night). I was tempted to scan in the NEXTWAVE page that Mafus hooked me up with for X-Mas, but was both lazy and afraid I might do something to damage it. Mainly, I was lazy and that last bit is balderdash. Perhaps this evening, but I'm really hoping to polish off a DEMON page I started inking over the long holiday. The rust is still abundant on my inking skills but every now and then I feel a little of the magic come back. Hopefully '08 will be a better year creatively. If I haven't posted any art by Friday, you have permission to box my ear and steal my lollipop.

As it was a long weekend and I decided to grab a few trades along with my long list of singles. (Floppies, I believe is what the kids call 'em these days.) Originally I was looking for a trade of Uncle Byrnie's latest DEMON series, but switched it up as I had started watching Season One of JUSTICE LEAGUE UNLIMITED. Now I’ll openly admit I’m pretty ignorant on the DC side of the pullbox. I know all the big-hitters, but once you get outside the original pantheon I’m clueless, so I scanned all the DC trades, but couldn’t really decide on anything. Then this Mahnke cover caught my eye. I believe I even might have muttered, “Oh hell yeah.” Picked it up and gave it a flip through. “Awright, looks to be a solid amount of Mahnke’s art. Sold.” I then noticed that it was the second book of an arc and there was the first book right there on the shelf. All I can say is that I’m glad I got paid the day before. A very interesting story with great art to back it up. Well worth the price of admission and another stepping stone in coming back to some old friends at DC.

Yeah, I haven't touched anything from DC since Supes died and came back (I did join the military shortly after in my defense-plus I was always partial to the Marvel books, and Indie).
That cover does indeed kicketh asseth!
That ring is pretty tight. Bust out the cloth and get to swiping!;)

I was at work until 11:30pm New Years Eve, and got home in time to count down, kiss the missus, and start drawing!
Made it my resolution to go full force, and I am almost done tying all the pieces I did in 07. A bunch more drawings swimmming in the cranium waiting to break free...
There was this DayoftheDead: Rising of Bub comic that came out in 06 with issue 1...then that was it...I never got to read it and I really wanted too (I have a soft spot for "Bub").
I got to thinking what would happen to old Bub...so I put my own story down, and going to draw it in between writing, and drawing a comic, or two (got alot of ideas swimming- I'm no superstar, but I'll take them as learning experiences)...man, did I go off on left field or what?

I avoided DC for as long as I could. Still avoiding the whole 52/Countdown and Crisis crap. Gotta admit the Sinestro War got me though. Oh well. It's not like it couldn't though, right?

Never heard of that DotD: RoB comic, but you've piqued my curiosity on its existence. May have to hit eBay today...

You're not alone. I too have wondered what ever happened to Bub after the movie. Did he start a zombie commune? Get the band back together? Open up a fast food joint? I'm interested on your take on our lad.

The hardest thing is getting a good "comic look" for ole Bub...if you notice the comic I am refferring to, he has a slightly diff look than the movie..nothing wrong with that, just not what I expected...it was suppose to be a mini-series by DEADDOG, but haven't seen anything new since issue 1...
Will show ya what I got when I have some cool-looking things to show...;)

I hear you. I used teh Google and got a gander at the first issues cover — looked nothing like Bub. And, yeah, so far one issue out of the four I believe it was supposed to be. Don't know if Romero wasn't privy to it and later put the kibosh on it or what. Oh well, still think it's a good idea to roll with.

Never figure you for a member of the green lantern corps.

Although when I was doing jewelery design I did make myself and X-Man ring. However it was not as nicely well made as your ring.
