In lieu of a baby picture...

Since I got the afternoon off due to slow bidness I took the opportunity to get a little inking done. While I'm no Joe Sinnott I'd like to think I'm a bit above Vince Colletta. (Well, maybe not yet, but soon.)

Anyway, that's all I got for now. My 'rents are probably in town by now out at the in-laws, both eagerly awaiting the arrival of their grandchild.

Pretty sweet. As much as I hate Vince Coletta's inking on Kirby (and just about everybody else whose work he touched) I have to admit I saw some old comic strip work he did that was pretty tight. I wonder what happened. 'Cause his Marvel work was assssssss.

Yeah, in that Daredevil Essential we scored at Heroes Vince inked the last three issues. The first one was crap, the second was actually pretty decent and then the third was back to his normal garbage. He just had spurts of inspiration I guess.

Better late than never. Put me squarely in the I loved Vinnie Colletta's inking camp.

I will admit that there were times when it looked like he rushed thru jobs but I dare you to find anyone who could have done such gorgeous artwork as THOR, WARLORD as well as many others.

Colletta's fine lines and shading techniques aren't for everyone, I understand that, but no one else could have duplicated the beauty that was Vinnie.

I am disappointed to see Wieringo's comment-isn't he an artist or perhaps that was his brother. Very disrespectful talk from a pro-especially about someone who drew more comics than any 20 of today's artists-and especially about someone who has passed.

The artist Wieringo died. The other one, apparently, has neither talent or taste. Vinnie's work was all, at least, competent. Most of it was better than that.
